Timeless Thrills Gallery is proud to present "Guadalupe," a captivating photography series by acclaimed Mexican-American photographer Amanda Lopez. The exhibition is set to debut on Saturday, December 7th, 2024.
"Guadalupe" honors Mexico's cherished patron saint, Our Lady of Guadalupe, offering a fresh take on her symbolism while delving into the profound influence she's had on Sacramento-born photographer Amanda Lopez. Beyond its religious roots, the series pays tribute to the divine feminine energy, sacredness, and healing that Guadalupe's imagery represents for people of all genders and backgrounds.
Lopez's photographs explore the complexities of womanhood, masculinity, and devotion, asking the fundamental question: What does it mean to embody the divine? The series includes portraits of family and friends who share Lopez's deep connection to Guadalupe, as well as images of apparitions found in public spaces. Through a modern lens, Lopez reinterprets Guadalupe, crafting a collection that is diverse yet unified in its purpose – to foster connection among people.
Amanda Lopez's "Guadalupe" series was named a Critical Mass finalist by Photo Lucida and has been acquired by both the Smithsonian National Museum of American History and The Marian Library at the University of Dayton. Notably, select pieces from the series sold out as an NFT collection in just two minutes, underscoring its resonance in the digital art world

So glad to read of this exhibit and the work of photographer Amanda Lopez. This exhibit closes awfully soon, and I want to be able to come and visit. Can you please extend the days that this exhibit will be available to see? I don’t live in your city. And I’m almost as old as Nana! But Our Lady of Guadalupe has always been important to me, and is one of my daughter’s name. You got a great write-up today on the website for NPR radio. People from all over the USA got to see this very beautiful story!
