GUY LONG & ROSE CITY, CA: A HISTORICAL EXPLORATION

Art and Design Collaborations

We have had the pleasure of working with Guy Long for nearly a decade. What began in January 2017 as a freelance design project has grown into a dynamic partnership, resulting in numerous collaborations, pop-ups, art shows, installations, and exceptional design. We are thrilled to host his latest solo exhibition, The Lost Weekend.

When we transitioned into a formal gallery space almost a year ago, featuring a Guy Long show was at the top of our list. Earlier this year, we scheduled The Lost Weekend, and the anticipation has only grown. With the opening this Saturday from 3–7 PM, we invite you to join us on a journey through our shared history with this talented artist.

It all started in January of 2017 when we hired Guy to transform our storefront into a cartoon; Something he executes to perfection.  Our "Flagship" design was born and it became the face of our one year celebration at 3714 J street.
Our relationship with Guy had begun, but this was only the beginning.  Just a few months later we teamed up with Guy once again to design us something that became the face of a non-profit partnership.
Our ongoing partnership with the Sacramento SPCA had sprung and Guy's artwork shined on a set of new t-shirts.  Half the proceeds from all t-shirt sales were donated to the Sacramento SPCA with focus on their spay and neuter program.
Over a year later we called on Guy again to produce two special items that have become staples of the Timeless Thrills brand.  Our Tower Bridge and Water Tower prints have been purchased by thousands of people from Sacramento and beyond.  To this day they are some of our all time best selling items.
The following summer of 2019 we took our relationship with Guy to a new level and hosted his Summertime Pop-Up.
The pop-up featured artwork, installs, souvenirs, coloring sheets for kids, and so much more.  During his time in town, Guy also completed a 30 foot tall mural that graces a front wall of our space to this day.

Fast forward to January of 2020 and our four year celebration at our brick and mortar.  Guy once again delivered with a new design to lead the way for this milestone.
Naturally we created merch with the Sign design, items we still get asked to reproduce to this day.
Later in 2020 we expanded on our line of Water Tower items and had Guy design us artwork for a tangible lapel pin produce by Pin Trill.
In August of 2022 Guy made his way back up north for another pop-up concept titled; Rose City Tapes & Records.  This event meshed his artwork with his collectible intrigue for VHS tapes and records.  It was also a catalyst for the introduction to his new music venture; Leisure Affair.

We continued our SPCA partnership last year with new items.  Guy has also participated in our annual Zine Megamall the last two years.  Not many people know he is the design brain behind V. Miller Meat's infamous Sons of Hamarchy design.
Guy Long has a major connection to the city of Sacramento and we are honored to have culminated that gateway.  Everything he has done in and for the city has only lead to his new show opening this Saturday, October 19th, 2024.  The Lost Weekend is a solo exhibition with nineteen new pieces Guy has completed over this year.  On top of the artwork there will be souvenirs for sale, new builds, and several installs that are sure to impress.
The Lost Weekend opens Saturday, October 19th from 3-7pm.  Learn more about the exhibit here.
